Happy Friday BLMS families! Today is a very special day because it is time for our monthly field trip! This time we decided to let our students get together and decide where they want to go this month. Our kids came together and as a group decided they wanted to go see Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grinedlwald! Surprisingly enough that is the same field trip all the other Impact groups chose to see as well!
As always, I wanted to share one of our favorite activities from this week! I couldn't wait until spring so on Tuesday we had our first gardening club of the year! I know what you are thinking...Mr. Steven, its too cold to start growing anything, and you'd be right. But that won't stop me from trying! We decided to get a few succulents and transplant them into freshly decorated pots!
We also gout ourselves a green house starter kit where we planted over 100 seeds from different wild flowers. We are hoping that they slowly germinate and grow through the winter and hopefully transplant them outside by spring!
Another week going into the record books! Despite some flu bug flying around that took down our staff this week, we were lucky enough to add Mr. Stephen to our morning program! Not only is Mr. Stephen a returning BASC veteran, he was also a student in the program the first year BASC was available at middle schools! If you drop off in the morning, be sure to say hello!
Here's a look at some of our other favorite activities of the week!
This week during Documentary Club we decided to put a pause on animals and Planet Earth, so we tuned in to an episode of How It's Made!
Did you know Grammy's are made of Grammium?
Last month due to staff being sick, we unfortunately had to postpone our walking field trip to Starbucks which we were finally able to do this Thursday! Mr. Steven led a group of 19 students down the trail to a group of Starbucks employees who I can only assume were not thrilled to see all of us. Our students were awesome throughout the entire trip, and I can't say for certain what every student got, but it looked a lot like this.
On Thursday we also made our very own stress balls! The plan was super simple! The most effective and easiest way we found to make them was to fill an empty water bottle about half way full of sand. Some of our kids used left over slime from a different activity, which didn't work as well but still got the job done.
Once that is done you want to lightly blow up a balloon and place it over the mouth hole of the water bottle and flip it over and fill it with a desired amount of sand. After that is complete you take off the balloon, let out the excess air and tie it off!
If you caught last weeks post, you would know that we recently held our student of the month day! We had a whole day planned by two students who went above and beyond this month. Anand decided he wanted to run a Harry Potter Trivia game for people in the main room, while Colton wanted to take on recreating an episode of Cut Throat Kitchen. In true TV fashion he decided to record all the events and threw this together... Check it out!
This has been one of the larger tasks a student has taken on by themselves and we all learned a lot from this experience! I can not wait until we do this again with some more twists!
October is over!? Say it isn't so! October is one of my favorite months. I love fall, Halloween and my birthday :) We've had a great month and I cannot wait to see everyone's costumes today for Halloween! Here's a little bit about what went down here at BLMS this month.
We've been trying to get Gnomie back from Challenger... which has been a lot of fun. We brought him back once, then they captured him. So we'll be returning to rescue him soon!
Peppa Pig is the unoffical mascot of the BLMS Gnome Attack Team.
Halloween-A-Palooza was so much fun earlier this month. We transformed our portables into a haunted house and had all the other !MPACT's over for a fun Halloween Carnival. It was a blast!
We had a trivia day that was hosted by our local celebrity, Game Show Host, Johnny Johnson. We played Family Feud and Jeopardy! Lots of tickets were won by all.
Another favorite was the Pumpkin Whoopie Pies we made. Here is the recipe. They are super easy to make and super delicious!

We had a great month! Looking forward to November!
Hello and happy Friday BLMS families!
We are about to wrap up another week here @ BLMS Impact and as always, here are a few of your students favorite highlights from this week!
Last week we managed to sneak over into Challengers field and reclaim the gnome that is rightfully ours!
Unfortunately we lost him back to Challenger within a matter of days. A recovery mission has yet to be successful. We miss you Gnomey, you'll be home soon.
How did we manage to lose our favorite lawn gnome you ask?
We were distracted as usual in the kitchen making some delicious Pumpkin Whoopie Pies!
Take a look!
Yesterday we attempted to make our own Popsicle stick bridges! The rules were simple, you are only allowed to use Popsicle sticks and glue to make a bridge that will support the weight of toy cars driving a gap between two tables... some of our bridges turned out to be sturdier than we thought!
Today is Student of the Month day! A day where two students are chosen to pick the days activities! So today we are trying to make our own episode of Cut Throat Kitchen with our own special twists from Colton, while Anand has decided to run a classic game of Scene It: Harry Potter Edition!
Check back next week for more!
Hello and happy Friday everyone! It has been quite the interesting week over here at BLMS Impact, and if you have been missing out, here's a little look at what we've been up to!
Earlier this week we sent out our Trash Smashers around the school campus to help pick up trash and try to find some interesting stuff!
We found Hot Hitz 2009-2010! ... Sadly the disc was cracked and the Hot Hitz have been lost forever.
This week we also had ourselves a grilled cheese party in the commons! It was filled with all sorts of different bread, cheese, seasonings, and toppings.
We tried to put a little spin on the event by making it a competition and the staff would try a small sample to judge who's tasted the best. Once the kids decided this, they made their grilled cheeses as spicy as possible. It was interesting to say the least.
We also made a trip over to Challenger to say hello to our friends on the other side of the fence! Some of our students turned out to be pretty popular with the younger kids!
With a shorter week than normal, we decided it was time to get in the Halloween spirit! Today we had our first field trip of the school year where all the other Impact programs joined us here at BLMS for a Halloween-A-Palooza!
We had everything from pumpkin bowling to a haunted house, and all the candy and popcorn you can think of. We want to send out a big thanks to all the other schools for coming together and making this happen! Here is just a few pictures from the event if you missed it!
Another fun activity we tried this week was to make spray paint stencils! We found stencil designs we liked online, printed them out and laminated the sheets and cut out what we needed to. Here is a look at some of the first attempts!
Fall is in full swing and we could not be more excited about that over here at BLMS !mpact!.This week we dove in head first to all things fall with a Madden football tournament and fall themed luminaries!
A handful of the luminaries were drying overnight and should be ready to finish this afternoon, which will go great with the fall themed candles we start working on today!
On Friday we will be having a game show themed day with a very special guest host, be sure to check in next week to find out who is stopping by!
Hello! I cannot believe that the end of September is nearly upon us. This month flew by. We've had soo much fun starting the new school year off and getting to meet all of our newcomers.
We've also enjoyed welcoming Mr. Steven to !MPACT and hope you've been enjoying his weekly blogs. He will continue to update you on all the cool things happening weekly, and I'll come back at the end of each month and give you a quick recap :)
We've also welcomed a new staff member Mr. Aidan. We are super excited to have him here on our BLMS !MPACT Team :)
A highlights from this month:
Everyone was clearly super excited for the first day of school...
We had a super fun Tin Foil Tower Challenge, and made towers that were taller than some of us!
We also took our monthly walk to Starbucks where we saw 6 bunnies, 5 dogs, and 1 snake. It was a lot of fun!
We've had a great month here at BLMS !MPACT and cannot wait for all of the fun things we have planned in October! :)
Hello Beaver Lake families and happy Friday!
If you have been following the blog posts you will see that we ended last week with our bagel pizzas. It is safe to say that the activity was a huge success! We were all so into making our pizzas just right we managed to eat them all before we got any pictures... but if you are curious, they looked a lot like this.
Here's a quick look of some of our student highlights from this week.
Before it gets too cold for us to play outside we wanted to try out some 3D sidewalk chalk. As we all know not everything goes as planned and our chalk didn't turn out the way we had hoped, but that didn't stop us from having fun with it!
But the sunshine doesn't last forever, so we were more than ready when it came time for cocoa and documentary club later in the week.
Be sure to check back mid next week to see our recap of our Student of the Month Day!
