One of my favorite activities that we've done recently is Extreme Cup Stacking Challenges.
Instead of making the basic 10 cup pyramid, we took it a couple of steps further.
For the first challenge, the groups of two had to work together using a rubber band with 4 strings attached to it to pick up and stack the cups.
My favorite part about this particular challenge was the amazing communication that the teams demonstrated. They all worked together very well and made suggestions to each other about how to move their hands to make it work. These guys also had some amazing attitudes when things weren't working; they didn't let challenges discourage them at all!
This was much, much harder than it seemed; none of us were able to actually complete a successful catch. It was fun to watch the kiddos work together to develop and test different hypotheses.
Also, next week we will have the wonderful Ms. Megan from IMS' !MPACT here while I am working at PCMS. Be sure to say hello and get to know her--she's great!
