October Recap

10/31/2018

Picture
October is over!? Say it isn't so! October is one of my favorite months. I love fall, Halloween and my birthday :) We've had a great month and I cannot wait to see everyone's costumes today for Halloween! Here's a little bit about what went down here at BLMS this month.

We've been trying to get Gnomie back from Challenger... which has been a lot of fun. We brought him back once, then they captured him. So we'll be returning to rescue him soon!

Peppa Pig is the unoffical mascot of the BLMS Gnome Attack Team.

Halloween-A-Palooza was so much fun earlier this month. We transformed our portables into a haunted house and had all the other !MPACT's over for a fun Halloween Carnival. It was a blast!

We had a trivia day that was hosted by our local celebrity, Game Show Host, Johnny Johnson. We played Family Feud and Jeopardy! Lots of tickets were won by all.
Picture
Another favorite was the Pumpkin Whoopie Pies we made. Here is the recipe. They are super easy to make and super delicious!

Always in the Kitchen

10/26/2018

Hello and happy Friday BLMS families!

We are about to wrap up another week here @ BLMS Impact and as always, here are a few of your students favorite highlights from this week!
Picture
Last week we managed to sneak over into Challengers field and reclaim the gnome that is rightfully ours!

Unfortunately we lost him back to Challenger within a matter of days. A recovery mission has yet to be successful. We miss you Gnomey, you'll be home soon.

How did we manage to lose our favorite lawn gnome you ask?

We were distracted as usual in the kitchen making some delicious Pumpkin Whoopie Pies!

Take a look!

Yesterday we attempted to make our own Popsicle stick bridges! The rules were simple, you are only allowed to use Popsicle sticks and glue to make a bridge that will support the weight of toy cars driving a gap between two tables... some of our bridges turned out to be sturdier than we thought!

Today is Student of the Month day! A day where two students are chosen to pick the days activities! So today we are trying to make our own episode of Cut Throat Kitchen with our own special twists from Colton, while Anand has decided to run a classic game of Scene It: Harry Potter Edition!

Check back next week for more!

Happy Friday!

10/19/2018

Hello and happy Friday everyone! It has been quite the interesting week over here at BLMS Impact, and if you have been missing out, here's a little look at what we've been up to!
Picture

Earlier this week we sent out our Trash Smashers around the school campus to help pick up trash and try to find some interesting stuff!

We found Hot Hitz 2009-2010!  ... Sadly the disc was cracked and the Hot Hitz have been lost forever.

This week we also had ourselves a grilled cheese party in the commons! It was filled with all sorts of different bread, cheese, seasonings, and toppings.

We tried to put a little spin on the event by making it a competition and the staff would try a small sample to judge who's tasted the best. Once the kids decided this, they made their grilled cheeses as spicy as possible. It was interesting to say the least.

We also made a trip over to Challenger to say hello to our friends on the other side of the fence! Some of our students turned out to be pretty popular with the younger kids!

Halloween-a-palooza!

10/12/2018

With a shorter week than normal, we decided it was time to get in the Halloween spirit! Today we had our first field trip of the school year where all the other Impact programs joined us here at BLMS for a Halloween-A-Palooza!

We had everything from pumpkin bowling to a haunted house, and all the candy and popcorn you can think of. We want to send out a big thanks to all the other schools for coming together and making this happen! Here is just a few pictures from the event if you missed it!

Another fun activity we tried this week was to make spray paint stencils! We found stencil designs we liked online, printed them out and laminated the sheets and cut out what we needed to. Here is a look at some of the first attempts!

A handful of the luminaries were drying overnight and should be ready to finish this afternoon, which will go great with the fall themed candles we start working on today!

On Friday we will be having a game show themed day with a very special guest host, be sure to check in next week to find out who is stopping by!
