It feels like winter has already hit us full force. I can’t believe that November is already almost over! I think that this time of season can be really stressful for everyone. At this point, the kids have barely had any days off and they get burnt out or overwhelmed. We wanted to find a way to help the kids learn some calm down techniques. Earlier, I learned about a great mindfulness item that is a great way to visually help someone calm down. You might have heard of them, but they are called Calm Down Jars. What you do for these is get a water bottle (or mason jar) and put a combination of glitter, glitter glue, paint, water, dish soap, and baby-oil. You then superglue the top of the jar/bottle shut. The way it works is when the jar is calm, the glitter sits calmly at the bottom of the jar, but when shaken, it goes ever where and is chaotic. Yet, the kids watch the glitter fall. I find it to be mesmerizing and a great way to take a breather. Overall, I love the idea of the simple calming method the Calm Down Jars supply. The kids were so enthralled with both making their individualized jars and watching them fall. The added bonus of the process was the soft hands.
Have a great FOUR day weekend!
