We had a fun week at Coyote Club. To start out the week our Elves Frisbee and Buttercup came to visit us. On Monday they got into some flour and made snow angels and gave the students a raffle drawing for a special day. On Tuesday, Frisbee and Buttercup took a bath in some marshmallows and gave the students bubbles to take home. On Wednesday, the elves hung from the ceiling and gave us magical peppermints that grow. On Thursday, the magical peppermints grew into candy canes and the elves brought reindeer ducks! Lastly, on Friday the Frisbee and Buttercup said goodbye and brought Coyote Club a large container of elf bears! How cute :) It was so much fun to see Frisbee and Buttercup again and we can't wait to see them next year!
On Thursday, the k-2 graders got to experiment with peppermints. They placed their peppermints in water and waited to see if there were any changes. We set a timer and waited. After a few minutes, the peppermints started to dissolve in the water. We asked questions like: "what do you think is happening?, what do you see?, what do you hear or smell?, and what does the peppermint feel like?" Soon after the students wanted to know why the color was spreading. We explained that peppermints are made out of sugar and sugar dissolves in water. After watching the peppermint lose all of the red coloring, they wanted another mint so they tried again. They even got to take a peppermint home to eat!✨
