Can you believe this week ending on a Friday the 13th? Plus! There's a full Harvest Moon tonight as well! I am so psyched! This week, we did many fun things leading up to this momentous Friday! We took advantage of the good weather these last couple days and played some intense games of Infection and Werewolf Tag! We trekked down into the distant and untamed land of Downtown Issaquah to find and obtain the elusive Pokemon! One kid challenged our teammate Alex to a game of bump, and after much determination and persistence, won! );D New games were taught and played and more creations were create.
One such creation that drew in the most kids I've seen at an activity in a long time was our needle point felting! For some, it was a continuation of skills past learned! For others, an exploration into a strange craft where you poke fluff with a needle and it somehow forms into shapes. Then animals! Or plant life! Almost, one could say, like magic.
We had a lot of fun trying out this new craft this week, and some kids are still finishing up their projects! I am very impressed with the chicken and chick they are in process of making, and I can't wait to see them finished! =D *crosses fingers*

As the school year begins, we want kids to be as excited about the new school year as we are! What better way to do that than by making a piece of the school your very own? Pulling out almost every single crafty item we could think of, we set the kids off to explore their creativity by designing...
DECOR FOR THEIR LOCKERS!!!
We had kids who came in and finished fast happy with that one item they had created, and we had kids who stuck around the whole time; making multiple creations and decorations for their brand new lockers. Overall, their creativity and creations shined through! =D

Last week we spent as much time outside as we could soaking up the sun and enjoying the heat! We had a water balloon battle, we played Drip Drip Drop, created giant bubbles and did some solar etching! Check out our photos below!

THANK YOU everybody for joining us at our final family night of the year. We closed this year with some crazy games - Bunco and trivia - and an amazing improv show performed by several of our students. We had such a great time and we are so happy by the turnout - thank you for showing up and supporting your students!
We had dozens of photos of family night (Thanks Mr. Zach for taking on the role as photographer!) - please enjoy taking a look through them!

Last week we went green screen crazy and put ourselves in front of some fun backgrounds! We used a really cool app on the iPads called "Do Ink Green Scree" to make it happen! Check out our staff and student creations!
Welcome summer! (Almost!) We are so happy that it's warming up outside finally. I'm sure you will see us outside way more in the coming weeks.
Ms. Tory led a fun balloon challenge activity on a rainy day last week. The kids were given a task to make a balloon tower as tall as they could. Of course it morphed into something more and they emerged from the school with a super long balloon dragon!
Welcome to another edition of Master Chef! This time the students participated in a mystery basket challenge. Students were challenged to create a dish using the four mystery basket ingredients. They also had access to the Impact pantry. The mystery basket ingredients the students had to work with were: pretzels, shortcake, caramel candies and canned peaches! Check out the pictures below of the kid's creations!
Hi Everyone! I apologize, it's been a little while since I have posted a monthly blog! We have been so busy here at IMS, first we had the Oscars, Spring Break, visiting the 5th graders to let them know about the awesomeness that is !MPACT, then we had them come to IMS and hang out with us for 5th grade night, and most recently we took a group field trip to go see Avengers Endgame! We have had some really fun projects that we have been trying out though in the past couple months. One that I am particularly excited to share is that we have been trying to partner more and more with Clark Elementary since they are right across the road! Most recently we did a joint visit to the firehouse to thank the brave fireman for their service! The middle schoolers made them cookies while the elementary kids made them thank you cards! Coming up in May we will be traveling to Pine Lake to play Humans Vs. Zombies and we are planning our next family night that will be held in June! We're almost to the end of the year, our 8th graders will be taking their special 8th grade trip this month! We plan to get some really fun pictures of them as they go to iFly and Round1! I will post again at the end of the month with our family night news! ~Mrs. Tory
In preparation for our surprise PRIZE for our field trip to the new Avengers movie (winner gets to choose their seats at the movie for themselves and 3 friends!) we made it rain with tickets yesterday so all of the kids would have a chance to win!
The students won tickets for having the best carved watermelon, for planting flowers and weeding, (they liked weeding so much they created a weeding schedule for the rest of the month!). They also got tickets for keeping the kings spot in Goala and also for collecting trash around school!
IMS hosted spring break this year, so we had students from all five middle schools on campus with us! We had a great time making new friends and going on new field trips!
When we weren't at IMS doing build challenges or celebrating senior citizen day, we were on two awesome new field trips to the spring fair and Dave & Busters! Check out our pics of spring break below!
Check back here for weekly updates from Ms. Nikki! Check back monthly for a 'month-in-review from Ms. Tory.
