Happy Halloween!

10/31/2018

We have done a few spooky things at Impact this week - Creepy Candies, Monstrous Sugar Cookies and Makeup Mayhem! The kids get really into these activities and make them that much more fun with their interest and enthusiasm! Check out our activities we have done so far this week...
CREEPY CANDIES
Creepy Candies is an activity for kids to use Halloween candies and turn them into MEGA CANDIES. Using hot glue, though, so they didn't necessarily get to eat them. Here are some of the creations by Jack, Callie, Daniel, Zander, Ian and Anna.

MONSTROUS SUGAR COOKIES
For this activity, students made their own dough as well as their own icing to decorate their crazy monster cookies. Below is a photo of Izzy with her truly terrifying cookie.

MAKEUP MAYHEM
Why make yourself look glam with makeup when you can make yourself look truly terrifying!

Monthly Musings -October

10/31/2018

October was so exciting here at IMPACT! We got to do a bunch of really fun Halloween related activities including our Halloween-a-palooza over at Beaver Lake where we built an awesome haunted house! We also added a new staff member Mr. Zach, to our IMPACT family! Of all the things that happened this month I would have to say that my favorite activity was Bob Ross. I didn't know that we had so many aspiring artists at IMS! Take a look at the pictures down below to see some of the awesome art pieces the students did. I also threw in some other fun memories from this month that made me smile! I am sad that the sun has gone, but we will keep trying to make things shine here at IMPACT. Make sure to check in with our blog weekly to read Ms. Megan's posts and see what we have been up to!

Needle Point Felting - the cool new craft here at IMS. It's a super fun and easy craft (and cheap if you want to try it at home!). Students learned how to use a special barbed needle to manipulate loose felt into their own creation! While most of the students made foods - macarons, mushrooms, s'mores and eggs - others made things like owls and pumpkins!
There was also a special and unexpected surprise toward the end of craft time... Kamron lost a tooth!

Halloween-a-palooza

10/18/2018

Halloween is almost upon us! To celebrate, we threw a huge party last Friday to get the kids even MORE excited than they already are! We were having so much fun setting up the haunted house and walking through it that we didn't get too many photos, but enjoy the one we did get!
Each middle school got to choose what theme they wanted for their section of the haunted house. IMS chose MURDER DETENTION

Hotdog BONANZA!!!

10/5/2018

Picture
Take out the barbecue, stack up the napkins, heat up the beans - its time for a real barbecue at IMS Impact!

The weather was so PERFECT on Thursday that we had to bring our hotdog bonanza outside and turn it into an all day event! The kids had dozens of toppings to choose from, and some inspiration on the board to fuel their hotdog creativity. Love cream cheese? Make your own Seattle Dog! Prefer bacon wrapped dogs and guacamole? Enjoy your own Sonoran Dog! Neither of those strike your fancy? Try the Southern Slaw Dog, New York Dog, or Detroit Dog!

Can't wait for our next BBQ event!
