!MPACT Family Night: Gingerbread Contest

12/20/2017

This month we had our first Family Night here at Maywood. The night was full of a variety of candies, graham cracker crumbs, and delicious chilies. In addition to the gingerbread houses and food we also watched a great movie, Elf! Every one had so much fun! Thank you to all of the families that joined us for our end of the year celebration. :)

Monthly Recap!

12/20/2017

Hello Readers!

Ms. Erica will be blogging weekly & I will be doing a monthly recap so you can see what we are doing here at !mpact.

In the beginning of December it was super icy and cold! We went outside to the courtyard and parts of the concrete were frozen. We thought, how cool would it be to imitate hockey?! The kids mainly just wanted to slide around on the ice but a few of us did bring out the hockey sticks and a puck! Jarrett plays at SnoKing so he had the best balance out of all of us.
We also made some vegetarian sushi!! I personally do not eat raw fish so I bought the essentials for us to make sushi with avocado, cucumber, rice, and more veggies :) for some of us it was the first time eating seaweed :o We had to wait a while for the rice to cook so we cut the veggies up and ended up eating some veggies before we even wrapped up our sushi. Hehe!
We watched a movie and got to make a sweet treat with it! Look how cute our little waffle maker is! We called this activity Harry Waffles since we were watching Harry potter and making waffles!
Ms. Erica already blogged about the fruit sculptures and our field trip to Lynnwood Bowl and Skate, but I've attached some more photos to my slideshow for you to see! Check out the photo with all of the cell phones... when we got back from Lynnwood the kids' phones were almost dead so they needed a charge, haha!
Ms. Erica also blogged about our family night but I also wanted to attach some more photos and thank all of you that came! We had a great turn out and the majority of the food we made was gone in the first half hour! What a compliment!

Thanks for stopping by! Come back next week & again at the end of the month to see what else we're doing at !mpact!!

Life Skills: Crunch Wraps & Fruit Sculptures

12/15/2017

We took Taco Tuesday to a whole new level at !MPACT this week. We've made tacos and burritos at IMPACT, so we wanted to have a new type of Taco Tuesday. We made the best Crunch Wraps and home made tortilla chips! The kids had a lot of fun building their wraps then grilling them on a skillet. They turned out so good! We are going to make these delicious wraps again in the future! :)

In addition, we also used our creativity to design sculptures with a variety of fruits. There were so many great ideas. And it was a tasty treat after everyone was finished with there creations! Thank you to all of the kids are participated on the activity!
We also wanted to wish Ms. Cherina the Happiest of Birthday's. Thank you for being a fantastic member to the Maywood Team!

They turned out awesome!! Even better with frosting on top!  Thank you Anika for all the help with the behind the scene work! I couldn't have done it with out you!
