Hello & welcome!
This past month at !mpact has been an eventful one!
Mr. Logan has been introducing and teaching us all about Magic the Gathering (and for those of you that remember Mr. Jayson, he just donated a BUNCH of cards for us to add to our collection as well as give out prizes!! Thank you Mr. J!!) At our last Magic the Gathering gathering (hehe) we had ALL GIRLS of all different ages! MTG is typically a male heavy population so it was nice seeing our girls want to learn more!
We also did some Metal Stamping. Some of us made bracelets, magnets, and some of us made rings! We're excited to explore metal stamping more next month with a more intricate item... a spoon! We will practice on a few before hand as stamping on curved objects are different than flat ones. If we do well with spoons I'm sure we will move onto more items!!
On the same day as metal stamping we also made Banana Pudding! As simple as the recipe is, not all of us are as skilled in the kitchen as Mr. Logan and he was happy to go through the step by step process with the kids! They even shared their pudding with everyone else at snack. We don't always get to share food after a cooking project, but it was nice being able to!
Another cooking project we did was a competition style of Quesadillas. This was a two part process. Our first day was just us getting our groups together as well as writing out our ingredient list. I (Cherina) then went to QFC the next day, got the materials, and we cooked away! Congrats to Sharayu, Megan, Konner & Jarrett for the most popular quesadilla!
As you all know we share 305 with a teacher. Ms. Veraya (the art teacher) has been nice enough to let us use the art room for our messier projects. We made Mermaid Slime earlier this month, and it was beautiful! Be sure to see Emma's finished product.. it was the perfect mixture of slime and glitter!!
If you've never considered using paint chips for a craft... you totally should look into it! I grabbed a handful of them at Lowe's and the kids went crazy! They got to create whatever they wanted, some a skyline, some made calendars, all out of these little paint chips!
A popular activity here at !mpact is Pancake Art. It's so simple but enjoyable! There were almost 20 !mpact students in Mrs. Wright's room making their pancake mix, using the stoves, and using the squirt bottles to make defined lines for their pancake art. Everyone "ooh"ed and "aahh"ed over Ellie's Coug. At the end, everyone got to eat their creations (and clean up :).
If you have never heard of the game Superfight I recommend that you check it out! Mr. Logan brought this game to !mpact and it has changed the lives of our kids forever! We have scheduled days to play, but the kids like to play during Free Time as well. It's basically a game where you argue why your character is better than anyone else's. How many of your kids would be amazing at this game?!?!
Also, you will see some hilarious photos of Sonya, Alyssa, and Fiona in the slideshow. We no longer have a "Wall Of Shame" but posting their silly faces on our blog will have to do :)
See you next time!
