ALL ABOUT THE KIDS

10/30/2019

October flew by quick here at Maywood. We had our Halloweenapalooza field trip, continued developing our Dungeons & Dragons characters, made some scrunchies, and more!

A favorite here at !MPACT is to sit down with a group of friends, play a game, and of course have a DJ.

We will typically pull out a card game (like Snake Oil or UNO), then have students choosing songs they want to listen to. Here you can see Estella controlling the computer while Taylor writes down songs that other students call out, to be heard in order. This is one small way we are "All About The Kids" here at !MPACT. They get the freedom to be the whole room's DJ, while also jumping in on some card game action.

We are excited to see what November has in store for us!

Last Friday we had field trip to Beaver Lake Middle school, We also had a contest in a little known game called Gang Beasts. Mix WWE with hard to control play-dough people and this is what you get.So we had the best student from each of the schools compete in a heated battle in front of everyone.

D&D: The Beginnings

10/10/2019

Our story begins with a group of ragtag adventurers coming together to help the local town of Phandalin off of the sword cost. The Mayor of this small town is seeking help to get rid of a dragon that has been terrorizing the local farms. The group sets off to get a weapon from the Gnomes in the west. Arriving they find out that the King of the Gnomes has gone crazy thinking that everything is a shape shiftier called a Mimic and asks the adventurers to rid the beast from his tiny kingdom.

After doing so they return to the king dragging the mimics "body" behind and the king so happy with this he gives them a sword that is suited to kill the dragon.

To find out what happens next make sure that you keep coming back to the blog for future updates!

Rockets!

10/4/2019

Early in the month we made ROCKETS! These are made of 2l bottles and some PVC pipes. This activity is super fun and great for anyone that is wanting to see how they would fair as a rocket scientist.
