Here it is, our 2019-2020 School Year has begun! Over at PCMS we are pumped for all the fun games, exciting field trips, and wonderful projects we have in store. My name is Logan Rudie, and I am the new Assistant Site Coordinator here at PCMS! I've worked in the BASC program for 6 years now, and and am coming straight from Maywood on the south end of the school district. I hope I'm not the only one who can't wait for all of the fantastic experiences we have waiting in our near future!
Thank you to all the families that showed up to our final family night of the year. We had a great turnout. It was great for the parents to see all the interactions that all of the students have with each other.
Please check out the pictures below from our photo booth they are all great!
Week 2 we seem to have been transported back even farther !MPACT is back to when smash was only played on the GameCube. This time Ms.Kara showed up and challenged us to a Carnie and Mario Kart Duel. Needless to say we made quick work of both of those things. she said that she woke up and the only things she had with here were a can of golden spray paint and an expo marker. We better figure this out or !MPACT is going to be stuck back in the past for good!
Shh its a secret!
The past 2 week !MPACT has been transported into the past and we cant figure out why! Week one of the super secret society all of our gaming consoles have been replaced with the older versions of the same console. Then Mr.Jayson shows up out of the blue and says he works at !MPACT (hint he doesn't). So we talked to him in the normal way a secret society knows how to do.
Thats right by tieing him up to the chair! It turns out Mr.Jayson woke up like it was a normal day but the only thing he had with him was a hula-hoop.. Weird thing are happening on Fridays.
We made our own D&D Mini-figures. What you see above is the character that the student designed with desktophero3d.com and I printed out on my 3D printer!
We have been playing D&D since the beginning of the year and things right now are getting intense. The story so far is that this group of mercenarys have been recruited be a captain of a ship (Captain Clove) to find his lost Idol. Clove cant remember any thing about it but just that he needs it. So they set aboard his ship and went off to sea. when at sea they had some good times goofing off and eating food, but then a group of pirates showed up and boarded their ship. Making quick work of the pirates the team have proven them selves in battle and Clove was impressed. Suddenly a storm came in and wiped them off the ship losing them out at sea. Waking on a island and setting up a make do shelter the team rests. they wake up the next morning to find Clove is missing they search the island and find a secret cavern that is owned by a crew of pirates.... and that were we are in the story so far.
It was Mr Steven! He came by because we had a friendly challenge between us and BLMS to see who could move 20 M&Ms from one plate to the other the fastest. Well Scarlet won with a crazy time of 15.84 a good 2 seconds before anyone else. That means that she got to pie Mr Steven in the face. See the video to find out more!
Even after being pied Mr Steven went and did one of his favorite activity Slack Line!
Here's a look at all the fun we had in April!
Every month we have a new "Challenge of the Month" and for April, we added a twist! Not only did we challenge our students to move 20 M&M's as fast as they could from one paper plate to another only using a straw, but BLMS !MPACT was also in on the challenge!
Scarlet came out on top of not only our leader board, but she beat the top student at BLMS as well, which means she gets to pie the staff of her choice... Mr. Steven!!
5th Grade night was another highlight this month. Check out the pictures of our students making welcome signs before our honored guests arrived!
One final hit this month was "Try Guys Try Peeps". I searched far and wide for the various favors of peeps you see above. We split the group into teams, and each team sent up one delegate each round who would put on a blindfold, eat a peep, and try to guess what flavor it was. At the very end, our tie breaker consisted of the Peeps Delights and the Sugar Free Peeps (gross).
Check out the pictures below!
Finally, with all our leftover Peeps, we made Peep Rice Krispie Treats! No cooking project is complete at PCMS without a little bit of ASMR. Enjoy!
This week !MPACT went on a field trip to go and see the newest Avengers movie Avengers:Endgame. No only has everyone been waiting to see the conclusion because of the ultimate cliff hanger from infinity war but they were really on it to try and get tickets to win our weekly prize.
The prize consisted of 4 RESERVED seats at the AMC we are going to see the movie at. So it was highly valuable in the eyes of the students. After a week we had a gallon Ziploc filled with tickets but there could only be one winner and that was Aubrey S ! Above is the sign she made to inform the other students that she selected them to sit with her.
Once again PCMS was chosen to be the hosts of the Peep Olympics! It is such a great honor to be chosen to host year after year.... What you don't know what the Peep Olympics are? Well it includes only 2 events, Peep jousting and peep catapults. If you win any of the events you are held in very high honor and join a small prestigious group of elite winners. This year we had a record breaking amount of contestants but in the end only one would win!
First off we had Jousting, this includes taking our peeps and adding a tooth pick to them and putting it in the microwave. The first one to touch the other is the winner! we had 23 contestants and the winner is Aubrey!
Then we do Peep Catapults, its just like any catapult building competition but you can only use peeps to hold it together.
Not those holidays you silly goose! OUR holidays, we took the time to make our own holidays including Kick Täg. Whats Kick Täg you might ask? Its an early Germanic holiday where the mother would kick there lease favorite things. So naturally we go around and kick our least favorite stuff like pineapple on pizza or lockers or math homework! We also crowned Eric the creator of Kick Täg as the Kick Täg Mister (Kick Day Master) and have a sweet trophy on the cabinet.
Our students wanted to spread the work about Kick Täg to the world so they made a promotional video so enjoy.
Ms.Callie and Mr.Logan will be blogging about all the fun at PCMS !MPACT
