Field Trip to MoPopWelcome back! In this month's installment of All About The Kids we are going to check out our field trip to MoPop. We polled the kids in October for field trip ideas, and while Lucky Strike won, we weren't able to go there on the day we wanted to chose our VERY close second option. We told this kids that the Museum of Pop Culture had a brand new exhibit about one of their favorites computer games, Minecraft. This caught a lot of the kids interest. We also told them that we would head over to the food court in Seattle Center afterwards to get dinner, and they were really excited about that! We gave the option of MoPop because of how much our kids are into Minecraft here at !mpact. Each month we have at least one Minecraft building challenge, where they compete against each other to build something based around a theme given to them. The Minecraft exhibit was really cool, and the kids that went to it absolutely loved it! There were so much they could experience, and a lot of highly interactive parts of the exhibit. From an interactive crafting table, to a giant tree they could punch to simulate harvesting wood, this exhibit had it all. However, we understand that not all of our kids are into Minecraft. There were several other exhibits for our kids to check out while they were there. The most popular non-Minecraft exhibit was Indie Games. As a lot of you know Mr. Matt has introduced our kids to a ton of Indie games, so for our kids to be able to see them and read about them in this exhibit was really fascinating. There was a really cool Sci-Fi exhibit that had some cool props from famous movies, like Star Trek, Star Wars, and more. There was a Fantasy exhibit that had memorabilia from movies like The Princess Bride, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. Each exhibit was really unique and allowed the kids to experience something new. We also love giving our kids the option of getting food while on our field trips. This is something that kids in our School Age Care program rarely get to do, and very much look forward to it when they get ti !mpact. At the food court the kids had a lot of options to pick from. Most of the kids went to either Starbucks, MOD pizza, or Subway. This field trip was a lot of fun and it was all kid driven. We love giving them the option to try new things, and this field trip allowed them to see exhibits about some of their favorite things. They had the option to grab food from several different restaurants. Overall we all had a great time and are looking forward to our next field trip! Here we have her brother to pick her up after school. What a family resemblance!Hope everyone is having a great November so far, everything is grand here at PLMS. We just sometimes forget to take pictures of it. To compensate here is a video of Derek dancing in an inflatable green suit. |
