By simply packing the mixture into some cookie cutters, and adding a straw for a string later we are well on our way to feeding our feathered friends! After letting the gelatin set, we popped them out of the cookie cutters and now we are in the drying process. We will let them dry on the racks for the weekend and finish them early next week by removing the straws and tying strings through the holes. The kids can take them home, hang them from a branch, and watch the birds feast!
We talked about where the birds find food, what they like to eat, what isn't good for them to eat, and what birds are around all year vs the ones that migrate to warmer areas. It was fun to put some education together with some life skills (we had to measure the ingredients!) and some creative expression.
I hope you have a great weekend, and enjoy the photos!
