Here's some trivia for you about fuse beads: When you iron the perler beads, the heat melts the beads and they stick together forming the shape. Early History: They were first introduced in Sweden in 1958. Then, the pegboards were invented in the late 1960's by Gunner Knuttson in Vallingby, Stockholm, Sweden. Thanks Gunner, we don't know how they would make these masterpieces without those peg boards!
We provide the beads, and entire book of fun patterns, and the peg boards... and they do the rest. It's a great fine motor skill activity that all ages can benefit from and we also see quite a bit of teamwork when they are picking through the big bin looking for colors. Friends help friends find the beads they need. Wonderful for a rainy day activity. Here's a slide show featuring some of their recent work, ask your Rocket Clubber if any of these projects are theirs and what they plan to work on next! We have some that are done, some in process, and some waiting to be ironed! They make great decorations, keychains, or even necklaces.....
