With the Chinese New Year Miss Bogie had a very exciting activity that she wanted to do with the kids! They all spent days making Shark Club's beloved dragon. When they were finished they had parades and dragon dances for a good week! All the kids wanted to sign up and parade around as the dragon! It was so exciting to watch and looked so similar to the traditional dance!
Another round of Nailed It for the books! This time around, we decided to do cupcakes rather than cakes. I figured that this would give the kids an opportunity to express their creativity on a more individual level. In addition, rather than having a cupcake for them to copy, the kids were given a theme that they were to follow, this allowed them more room for interpretation to do what they wanted to do! Please enjoy the pictures of just a few of our creations!
WOW! January was crazy with all the snow days and days off. We are ready for this month to be over and HELLO February! The highlight of January was definitely when Animal Encounters visited Shark Club. The kids were over the top excited to pet the baby goats, lame, bunnies, wallaby and other mammals were brought to us. We also learned some interesting facts about some of these mammals. I had a great time watching the kiddos petting these animals with their gentle hands and laughing with their friends! We also have high demands to bring the animals back next year!
Tacos for Days!
Veggie Club is at it again! Unfortunately we couldn’t do taco Tuesday last month due to snow, but we made up for it this week!! After all, there is never a bad day to make tacos!! As you may have heard in veggie club we use zero animal products and even do our best to remain gluten free!! We used beefless grounds, dairy free cheese, and sour cream!! Let be real, no one will complain about any form of tacos!!! Feel free and ask Miss Melissa if you would like any meatless ideas for your family!!! Stay Dry!
Happy last week of January everybody!! It may be too doom and gloom for flowers to survive outside! But we are making the best of it here at Shark Club! Soon enough we will be able to have a succulent planting party, but for now we are making rock succulents!! The best part about these “plants” is that they do not have to be watered!! Also they are extremely sturdy! Stay warm and dry everyone!!

You slowly recover consciousness. Your head hurts and you’re dizzy. You suddenly remember... Your dentist had called you in for your annual check-up. He found a molar he believed needed to be removed to prevent further problems. He sedated you with laughing gas, so that you would not have any pain during the extraction...
You look around you and realize that you are sitting in the waiting room together with several other patients who are slowly recovering consciousness. You then notice that the waiting room doors can only be opened from the other side. You can also look into the dentist’s office, where you see a heavy metal door with a combination lock. The phone suddenly rings. You pick it up and hear: “Listen carefully. There isn’t much time. I’m Dr. Siènski’s secretary. I’ve watched his experiments for long enough. He is experimenting on patients with x-ray radiation. In the beginning, everything seemed to go smoothly. But then some patients started losing their teeth and hair and got sick. We have not seen a number of them for some time now…
They may very well be dead. I don’t dare go to the police because Dr. Siènski’s brother works there and would recognize me. But I can help you escape and find proof before he starts his experiments today. You first need to open his filing cabinet. He changes the code for the combination lock daily. That code is related to the order of the day’s patients. That’s all I know. You’ll find proof of Dr. Siènski’s shady practices in the cabinet, as well as the access code for his ‘special’ treatment room.
He’ll be back in an hour and will fill the waiting room with N2O – laughing gas. To prevent this, you’ll have to close the main gas supply in his ‘special’ treatment room. If you succeed, you’ll be able to overpower him when he walks into the room. I have to hang up now. Good luck!”
Dear 4th and 5th grade families,
I have been looking forward to doing an escape room with out older kiddos for a very long time; so to see my dream become a reality brought me nothing but joy! I wanted to give our fourth and fifth graders a chance to stretch their imaginations and brains to do something as a team. We have an incredibly smart and talented group of older kids and they all got to shine and bring something to the table in the escape room. My goal in this activity while of course to have an excuse to bring an escape room to my job:), was also to push our students out of their comfort zone in order that they may feel confidently in their own unique gifts and talents. The goal was not so much to escape the room as it was to have a heck of a good time trying; and considering the amazing group of kiddos we have here, we had no trouble doing that at all. And that's what I call a mission accomplished! :)
We all remember growing up playing with Play Dough. Either from the infamous containers with colored lids, or maybe even homemade! At Shark Club we are lucky enough to have a Play Dough kitchen! The kiddos had a blast making, pizza, noodles, ravioli, salad, and anything else! Making a mess and being creative is what we love to do!! We hope you all have a great 3 day weekend!
A very warm thank you to everyone who joined us for our holiday family on December 18th. As always, we had a great time and it was wonderful gather with friends and families to celebrate the season. It brought so much joy seeing all the matching families jammies, sweaters and holiday spirits. I hope you enjoyed the evening as much as I surely did! I look forward to seeing you again at the next gathering.
Cheers to the holidays and happy new year!
Winter break is here! I can't believe how fast these past few weeks have gone by! I feel like just yesterday it was Thanksgiving! This week we had the opportunity to showcase one of our paras, Ms. Bogie, by having her to teach some of the kiddos how to stitch! This was a really cool opportunity to teach the kids a new skill that they can take with them in life, and have our staff integrate their talents into our curriculum!
Thank you to all of you who came to our family night! It was so good to be able to connect and enjoy fun activities and community. I hope that you all enjoy your time off, and spend it with those that you love. Happy holidays to all of our dear Shark Club families!
- Ms. Beth
